The Family Store is one of two small businesses operated by FCS Community Economic Development. It is a well-respected 501© 3 nonprofit, tax-exempt organization whose mission is to provide affordable merchandise, job training and employment opportunities for Atlanta’s inner city needy and working poor. Each year we have seasonal campaigns for residents in and around the Grant Park, Summerhill, Ormewood Park, and South Atlanta communities. We provide much needed clothing, school supplies, and miscellaneous household items so that our inner-city residents, especially children, can affordably obtain the tools necessary for becoming employable, good students, and productive citizens.
We would very much appreciate your partnering with us by:
- Donating new, used, slightly damaged, or overstocked clothing, school/office supplies, or household items.
- Sharing our information with others who wish to contribute to our campaign.
- Referring those that may benefit from our services to our facility.
Remember, all gifts are tax-deductible and are sold at a very low cost. Upon arrangement, we will promptly pick up donated merchandise at the designated time (s). The proceeds from sales are then used to provide much needed job training and employment opportunities for our less fortunate inner city neighbors. In some cases, those who cannot afford prices at even the very minimum of costs can volunteer at the store in exchange for the merchandise they need.
This concept has proven to be a vital component in empowering deserving inner city residents by affirming their dignity and affording them the opportunity to obtain marketable employment skills. The Family Store was founded and has operated on this principle since its inception in 1982. With your help we can continue to fulfill our mission of rebuilding lives and restoring SELF WORTH and DIGNITY, rather than fostering DEPENDENCY.
